In March 2009 Vranjes is unexpectedly offered the position as Team Manager in the club. He accepts.
He starts at his new position in July 2009. The season sums up with a Bundesliga-bronze.
”I did not expect such an offer from the SG, I was on my way home to Sweden to coach IFK Skövde. How often does it happen, that a player can reach such a position directly after the playing career? Not very often. I didn´t want to decline such an opportunity.“
